Will the Holidays Lose Their Magic During the Pandemic?
by Elyse Sears
The last three months of the year are usually filled with celebrations, family and joy. However, the majority of this year has been incredibly different, and the holidays will likely continue this trend.
Halloween
First up is Halloween, a holiday that includes dressing up in fun costumes and celebrating all things spooky, and for most young kids, trick or treating. However, trick or treating, even with masks is a little risky due to the ongoing pandemic, so many people are just placing prepackaged candy outside of their homes. Parties are another fun aspect to Halloween, but an unrealistic aspect of Halloween 2020 unless it is a small gathering with masks and other precautions. We can still get into the spirit however by watching favorite horror films or snacking on candy.
Thanksgiving
Christmas is a religious holiday that also involves getting together with family or friends, and similar to Thanksgiving, this may not be possible due to COVID-19 Restrictions, but that doesn't mean December can't be filled with fun Christmas activities like picking out a tree and decorating it. Christmas, similar to Hanukkah or Kwanzaa, is also filled with gift giving, and maybe the 2020 Christmas season would be a perfect time to send a faraway friend a special gift.
I love this topic. I also love how you give ideas on how to make each holiday special

ReplyDeleteI'm sure they will look different, but we will all have to work to make sure that we do our best to celebrate with our close family and enjoy our time together!
