"America's Top Young Scientist" May Have Found A Way To Stop COVID-19
Coronavirus has taken over many lives and continues to affect people around the world. People are still being cautious about the virus as it is still around. Scientists all over the globe have been studying the virus to try and stop it from spreading. One girl named Anika Chebrolu has been researching COVID-19 and trying to end this pandemic once and for all. All of her research has led her to a possible cure.
Anika, a 14-year-old girl, has been studying with her 3M mentor in order to try and identify the “molecule that could encompass the so-called "spike protein" that coronavirus uses to invade human cells.” By figuring out the viral protein that causes the virus to spread, she can figure out how to potentially stop it from reaching the cells which will stop the virus from spreading.
Anika’s ample research has led to the discovery of a possible cure. She has analyzed almost 700 million compounds through computer programs. Even though Anika is only 14 years old, she has made a groundbreaking discovery. This young female scientist was nominated as America's top young scientist for her amazing discovery that can possibly save the rest of the world. She won a prize of $25,000 and is using that money to fund the research for the coronavirus and to also give to nonprofit organizations.
That is so neat that someone so young and dedicated has made a discovery about such a tragic event in our lives. Hopefully her contribution can further the process of challenging the virus.
ReplyDeleteI love when young people step up and do things that change the world. I hope that this is the start of something good.
